Water Meter in Australia to Reduce Water Consumption

Water is an essential part of your life and you can’t survive without it. But you know the fact that there is a shortage of water all over the world. In this scenario, you should make efforts to reduce the consumption as much as possible. With water meter in Australia, the bill will be charged against the actual use. So, you will have to pay the amount on the quantity of water consumed. This will help you to keep a track on your water consumption thereby conserving environment.

Water flow meters are the tools that measure the consumption of water. Through different methods, it measures the total amount of water used by any source. Though there are various types of flow meters, the most commonly used are positive displacement meter, AMI meters and the velocity meter.

The positive displacement meters include a small chamber that holds a measured volume of water. As the flow of water is measured, it is compared to the previously held volume of liquid. The liquid is measured by the number of times the chamber is filled and emptied. It is mostly found in residential spaces.

In Velocity meters, these devices measure the velocity of the flow of liquid and translate it into the volume of the water flow. These machines use different mechanism to measure the velocity and translate the data. Other popular used water meters in Australia are ultrasonic, multi-jet, magnetic etc. These devices measure the velocity of the flow. Ideal for high flow areas, these water flow meters are used in industrial spaces and factories where hydraulics play a significant role.

Advanced Metering Infrastructure meters or simply AMI meters are smartest devices that can be read remotely. As it doesn’t use keypads, they are installed in a central location.
